FAQ's

  • What’s included on the day?

We provide the mechanics, staff, cars, overalls and crash helmets, fuel, refreshments and edited video clips. All you need to do is just turn up and enjoy the day.

  • I donʼt have any motorsport experience, is that a problem?

No, not at all. Track days are for everyone as long as you have a full road driving licence.

  • What do I need to bring?

Just your driving licence. You are welcome to bring your own helmet etc if you have them but we will supply helmets, race suits & gloves. We recommend wearing suitable light shoes (converse etc). Helmets need to be full face for our open top Ginetta G20 race cars.

  • How does the day work??

You will receive a specific schedule for your day and chosen track, however it will normally be as follows:

The day starts with the driver /passenger sign on at the circuit, usually around 8.30am. We recommend that drivers get to the track earlier to grab a coffee and to sample the buzz around the paddocks before a track day.

We will spend some time with you to familiarise you with the car and run through the circuit layout.

Next you will attend a drivers briefing which everyone must attend. If you do not attend, you will not be able to participate in the event. Once the briefing is finished it’s back to the garage where we will have the car ready for your first laps out on track.

You will all be required to go out behind a qualified instructor who will show you the track and race lines in a controlled manner. Again, this is compulsory to being allowed to get out on track.

Once the sighting laps are completed and depending whether it’s a session or open pit lane event, you are ready to go out on track and enjoy your day. Pedro our instructor will go out with you for some initial laps so that you get the very best out of the day. He will be available for extra tuition throughout the day.

The day is then broken down into a morning session and an afternoon session. There will be a 1 hour lunch break between 1pm – 2pm where you can recharge for the next session. The day finishes between 4:30pm and 5:30pm depending on the time of the year.

  • What happens if I am late?

The main problem is that you will need to attend a driver briefing, we can usually arrange this depending on the organisers but it isn’t a given. We would prefer you to get to the track early, however you will have our mobile numbers to contact if there are any issues.

  • Is the track day cost included in the car hire?

Yes, it is built into the cost of the day so that there are no surprise costs.

  • Do I get fuel included?

Yes, see above!

  • What happens in the event of an accident?

As with any form of motorsport, track dayʼs do carry a degree of risk and unfortunately accidents do happen. The car is professionally prepared and your initial laps with our instructor should prepare you for a safe, enjoyable day. However driver error or an accident between two cars is possible (although very rare).

You will be fully briefed by the organisers of the track with regards to what happens in the eventuality of an accident. Every circuit has qualified marshals and a medical team with full medical support are always present on track in the event that someone has been injured.

Track days are there for you to enjoy with fellow like minded petrolheads like yourself. Give respect on track to each other and you will minimise the chance of anything going wrong and also drive within your limits.

  • Is the car insured if I crash?

Yes, this is included in your fee. There will be an excess to pay which is taken at the point of booking. This is returned to you when the car is checked over at the end of the session without damage.

  • What happens if the car breaks down on track?

You will be brought back to the garage by the circuit recovery team. The car is prepared by the UK’s leading expert in Ginetta G20’s but as with any form of motorsport, cars that are being driven near the limit constantly can break down (hey, it happens in formula 1!)  Firstly, you will be recovered by the circuit marshals who will return you to the garage safely. We have a reserve car for such occasions so would just fire that up and off you go.

  • If I crash the car on track, can I use the spare car?

No, unfortunately not. The spare car is purely for mechanical issues that may arise.

  • What happens if I get black flagged on track?

You will be briefed regarding all of the flags in the drivers briefing. The marshals do not give out a black flag unless you are deemed to be driving dangerously, or there is something notably wrong with the car which they have seen whilst you are on track.

If it is to do with a mechanical defect then this will be fixed as soon as possible when the car has returned to the garage. If we feel it will take longer than we hoped to fix, we will have you out in the spare car until your original car is fixed.

If in the instance the black flag is due to your erratic driving, we will be to get you to return to the pits where a marshall will explain why you have been blacked flagged and a first warning will be given. If you are then given a further black flag again for erratic or dangerous driving your session will be over. Black flags are not there to spoil your day, there are there to protect you and other drivers from the danger of motor racing.

  • What happens if it rains?

If it rains on the day, the cars will be fitted with appropriate tyres and you will be given extra tuition time with the instructor to deal with the conditions. Track conditions will be slippery and caution is advised in these situations.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Your fee includes the circuit charges. The circuit charges are non refundable, but if more than 14 days notice is given you will have a credit for that part of the fee to be used within 3 months.

For the balance of the fee our cancellation policy is if you cancel less than 14 days to the booking date, 50% will be refunded. If you cancel prior to the 14 day period then a full credit will be applied that you can use for future events with Edge Racing.

  • How long do I get on track?

Driving a car at speed is both mentally and physically tiring. We recommend that you do 20 minute sessions in the cars at a time. This will be enough time to warm the tyres up and to get in 10-15 laps depending what circuit you are at.

In each hour of your car hire, we need the car back in the garage for 15/20 minutes at a time where we can check fluids etc and give the car a once over to ensure everything is okay.

Can I get a video of my session on track?

Yes, the car is fitted with Go Pro camera, we will edit the videos and send you a link where you can download your session to view. It is all included in the package.

If you require photos of the day most tracks have an onsite photographer who sell the images through their own website.

  • Do we get lunch?

We provide refreshments throughout the day and at lunchtime we have a small buffet for you. This is all included in your fee.

  • What tracks can we use for the Corporate events?

We can arrange a day at most UK tracks and a few in Europe if you fancy Spa etc?

  • Does everyone get equal time in the car?

We can arrange a timetable in advance for your day, however it tends to change on the day as people will drop out of a session for either being tired, wanting drinks etc. Please request a timetable when making the booking and we will discuss time options for each driver.

  • Can we have company branding on the car/in the garage?

No problem, we can usually include car branding within the package & you are welcome to bring your own pop up banners etc.
